Brant is the Secretary-Treasurer of AFT Massachusetts. First elected to serve as Secretary-Treasurer in 2016, Duncan previously served as a Vice President to the AFT Massachusetts and President of the Lynn Teachers Union.
As Secretary-Treasurer, Brant is committed to advocating for the schools and resources our students deserve. Brant is seen as an active partner in the work being done by AFT Massachusetts locals, providing regular on-the-ground trainings and support on everything from financial management to communications. In his dedicated work to ensure the fiscal and collective strength of the state federation, Brant works closely with President Tang and the AFT Massachusetts Executive Board to appropriate funds and ensure that the union’s resources are used responsibly and strategically.
Brant started his career in the Lynn Public Schools as a paraprofessional and later served as an elementary and middle school teacher, teaching technology and mathematics. As a past president of the Lynn Teachers Union, an elected member of the Lynn Classical School Improvement Council, and a dad of two daughters in the Lynn Public Schools, Brant has a strong understanding of how labor and parental involvement positively impact our schools.
Brant has an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Providence College and a graduate degree in Technology Education from Salem State University. He lives in Lynn, MA.
