Every teacher in the Lawrence Public Schools will receive a thorough evaluation before the end of the academic year, state-appointed receiver Jeffrey C. Riley said yesterday.

Sculptor Daniel Altshuler is working on a bronze plaque commemorating the 100th anniversary of the 1912 textile mill strike in Lawrence which came to be known as the Bread and Roses Strike.

On the pages of four hard-covered, leather-bound books lie a piece of history related to the Strike of 1912, which few people have read before. They are the first four volumes of the trial transcripts of Joseph Ettor and Arturo Giovanniti, charged as accomplices in the shooting death of Anna LoPizzo on Jan. 29, 1912. She was one of three people who died during the strike.

The Superintendent/Receiver of the Lawrence Public Schools district, Mr. Jeff Riley, will attend and address the monthly Union meeting on Wednesday, February 1st, 2012, at the request of LTU President McLaughlin.

The Model System is a comprehensive educator evaluation system designed by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (ESE), pursuant to the new educator evaluation regulation, 603 CMR 35.00.
